Use a PEBBLE for Dry Mouth

For thousands of years, people would put a pebble in their mouth if they were thirsty or their mouth was dry. Nowadays, there are products that are either implanted in a person's mouth and/or require electrical stimulation and frequent dentist visits. Sometimes the simplest answer is the best one. (Before you dry-mouthers chastise me, this is in good humour.)

US Turns To GMO Bees To Deliver Critical Medicines

In a recent survey, the American Medical Association learned that roughly only 40% of Americans receive flue vaccinations, though other vaccinations, for polio, measles, and others, are much higher but not the optimal 100%. Finding that vaccinations are in large part voluntary, the vaccination rate could be much greater if they were mandatory. Rather than go through all the troubles of imposing marshal law to ensure a high participant rate, the American Medical Association feels that bees are better equipped and more effective than modern syringes and free vaccinations. Acting on the AMA’s guidance, the Center for Disease Control, in partnership with Monsanto and Merck, is developing a vaccine distribution method by utilizing GMO bees to inject vaccines into humans. Because of human's natural aversion to bees, the CDC are crossbreeding the most aggressive bees - favoring those showing traits of hostility towards humans. As the queen propagates, the scientists explain, she will pass down both the modified DNA and hostility towards humans to all her generations of offspring. The first trials will begin with a vaccine for the flu. Scientists expect a mortality rate of a mere 7.5 deaths per one hundred, matching the mortality rate of people who are allergic to bee stings.

Is doing what one wishes a wasre of time?

Why do artists create? How do they create for hours on end, let it consume them, and not feel like they wasted so much time? But if its such a waste, what "should" they have done that wouldn't have made it a waste? Why am i conflicted with want i want to do vs should do in terms of what is of value and what isn't?

Common Cold Gains Due Recognition by Nobel Committee

Stockholm, Sweden – The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet has today decided to present a special Lifetime Achievement award to Common Cold in the category of Physiology or Medicine for it's work in eluding a cure throughout human history. During its rise to the most common ailment to afflict the human population, Common Cold has inspired pseudo medicines, remedies, therapies, bogus medications and cures to combat it's symptoms.

No disease's cure has stumped mankind for centuries like Common Cold has. Billions of dollars are spend annually by universities and commercial biotechnology departments to develop a vaccine for Common Cold. Additionally, even more money is spent on over the counter pseudo- medicines, remedies, therapies to combat Common Cold's symptoms. What's more, no disease has cost more lost days of work or school (hundreds of million of lost days annually).

Throughout human existence, no disease has impacted human society as efficiently as Common Cold. Any of it's 200+ virus strains can strike a person, family, or social circle as has Common Cold. No disease has supported or inspired generations in fields of family medicine, biotechnology, or homeopathy. It is with great honor the Lifetime Achievement award in Physiology or Medicine is presented to Common Cold.

Coal Ash Pollutes Cape Fear River – A Call For Relaxed Environmental Laws Gains Traction In North Carolina

The deluge of coal ash pond to kill indigenous fauna and flora will take five years to recover. Trump calls out North Carolina governor to lax coal mining and usage laws, to allow coal power companies to release coal ash into rivers and streams. Says if ash released into streams at low, controlled levels, will avoid large release of toxic substances. Blames lawmakers' lack of foresight/preparedness to plan for these tragedies. Questions their commitment to public and natural wildlife and habitats health. NC republicans and coal power proponents to introduce bill to North Carolina senate to repeal coal pollution laws, cites trump comments. With North Carolina unemployment rate at staggering 4.5%, nearly 10% over national average, a call to open coal mines gains traction to create tens, if not hundreds, of new jobs.

Farwell to Tamriel

So hard, so hard was it to let go of ESO. I had to. I just can't keep up with the other gamers - they kick my ass and I can't beat the trials alone as most people can - (they can beat them even when just reaching CP!) I felt like I was running in circles. Testing each weapon/armor/jewelry set up, champ points (what difference does that make when others need only 160? and I'm maxed), practicing moves I found online for maximum DP. Utter failure. I don't know what tricks they are using (other than programmable controllers) that works so well. I could not shake the bad feeling of not being able to catch up to what seemed should be so easy. So much time spent while feeling the time burn away. So much work to max out quests, skills, crafting, collecting sets, etc. So it will be gone next week, Xbox on ebay will be sold.

Despite depression still at 75%, I'm trudging through a creative project I hope will help me land a writing career in comedy.

Stay One's Course

Are you, then, so easily turned from your design? Did you not call this a glorious expedition? And wherefore was it glorious? Not because the way was smooth and placid as a southern sea, but because it was full of dangers and terror, because at every new incident your fortitude was to be called forth and your courage exhibited, because danger and death surrounded it, and these you were to brave and overcome. For this was it a glorious, for this was it an honourable undertaking. You were hereafter to be hailed as the benefactors of your species, your names adored as belonging to brave men who encountered death for honour and the benefit of mankind. And now, behold, with the first imagination of danger, or, if you will, the first mighty and terrific trial of your courage, you shrink away and are content to be handed down as men who had not strength enough to endure cold and peril; and so, poor souls, they were chilly and returned to their warm firesides. Why, that requires not this preparation; ye need not have come thus far and dragged your captain to the shame of a defeat merely to prove yourselves cowards. Oh! Be men, or be more than men. Be steady to your purposes and firm as a rock. This ice is not made of such stuff as your hearts may be; it is mutable and cannot withstand you if you say that it shall not. Do not return to your families with the stigma of disgrace marked on your brows. Return as heroes who have fought and conquered and who know not what it is to turn their backs on the foe.’

To What End?

I was on XBox again, my daily effort to quiet the mind - like when a parent turns on a TV to quiet the child, to suppress my thoughts (which instigate anxiety), to forget about all that I haven't accomplished today.

As i was playing the numbness faded, I asked - what am I doing? Sometimes I fixate on the question for there is no answer, and the anxiety swells until I flog myelf - either by repeated slapping my bare belly until it or my hands hurt too much, or by beating my chest with my fists, knuckles driven into the muscle. This time I didn't beat my self but asked for the first time - "to what end?" To what end am I playing this game? To what end am I farming a new set of armor in the hope to eek out a few more dps? And if i do, then what? And then I looked back on my job - to what end do I put up with a juvenile boss, living in a state that does not fully accompany my outdoors activity desires? To what end am I living here in the DMV area?

Jim Carrey once said that if you are going to fail, fail at something you live? But the crush of failure is 10 times worse than at something you don't, isn't it? And if I fail at something I love, how do I restrain from suicide (never far from my thoughts)? Sometimes i feel I'm living my suicide - a slow, painful suicide of many decades. Maybe it's time to jump off the bridge.
